1. The Importance of the First Burn

The initial burn, often termed the 'memory burn,' is crucial in shaping your candle's future burn pattern. Allow your COZY GLOW candle to burn for 2-3 hours during its first use, or until the wax melts evenly to the edge of the jar. This process sets the candle's 'memory' to burn evenly, preventing the common problem of tunneling and ensuring a uniform wax pool in future burns.

2. Regular Wick Trimming

Maintaining the wick's length is key to a perfect burn. Before every burn, trim the wick to about 5mm. This optimal length encourages a steady, smoke-free flame and a consistent burn temperature, greatly reducing the risk of soot marks on the jar. While wick trimmers are ideal, everyday tools like scissors or nail clippers are also effective. Ensure the wick and wax are cool before trimming to avoid any accidents.

3. Safe Burning Practices

For the safety of your home and the longevity of your candle, it's advised not to burn your COZY GLOW candle for more than 4 hours at a stretch. Excessive burning can lead to overheating the jar, potentially causing safety hazards. After 4 hours of burning, allow the candle to cool for at least two hours before relighting. This cooldown period stabilizes the wax and wick, ensuring a safer next burn.

4. Avoiding Tunneling

Tunneling can drastically reduce your candle’s lifespan. It happens when only the center of the candle burns, creating a tunnel-like effect. To prevent this, let the candle burn until the entire surface becomes liquid wax. This practice is particularly important for the first few burns, as it ensures an even wax pool and maximizes the candle's fragrance release.

5. Candle Placement

Where you place your candle can significantly impact its performance. Choose a location away from drafts, vents, and air currents. These can disturb the flame, causing uneven burning or sooting. Also, consider the room size for optimum fragrance throw – smaller rooms for subtle scents and larger areas for stronger fragrances.

6. Proper Candle Extinguishing

To extinguish your candle, a candle snuffer is the best choice as it minimizes smoke and preserves the integrity of the wick.

7. Keeping the Wax Pool Clean

A clean wax pool is essential for a clean burn. Remove any debris, such as wick trimmings or matches, from the wax pool. These can act as secondary wicks, causing the candle to burn faster and create smoke.

8. Storing Your Candle

Store your candle in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or intense indoor lighting. Prolonged exposure to light can cause the wax to melt or discolor and may lead to fragrance dissipation.

9. Reusing and Recycling

After your candle has fully burned, consider repurposing the jar. COZY GLOW jars are designed for multiple uses – they can be cleaned and used for storing small items, as planters, or even as part of your home decor.
